Women Salah - Step by Step Guidance
Step-1: NIYYAH

Perform wudu or ghusal (which is always required). Your cloths and place of salah should also be clean. Make sure your satr is covered. Women satr in Salah is to covered everything except hands,face and feet. A person must face the Qiblah (direction of prayer – Makkah). Make intention quietly or in the mind for which ever Salah you wish to perform. During Salah keep the eyes fixed on the spot where the head will be on Sajjdah (Prostration) unless otherwise mentioned. Ensure the feer point towards the direction of Qiblah. Men should keep their feet a minimum of four fingers width and women keep their feet together.


Step-2: TAKBIR

Whilst raising both hands to the height of the shoulders. Ensure the fingers are together and the palms face together Qibla. Remember to keep the eyes focused on the place of Sajjdah (Prostration). And say,

اَللّٰهُ اَكْبَرْ

ALLAH O AKBAR
Translation: Allah is The Greatest.


Step-3: RECITATION

Women should place their hands over the chest with right hand palm over the left hand, keeping the fingers and thumb together. But make sure you do not make a ring round wrist like men.

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ

SUBHANAKA ALLAHUMMA WABI HAMDIKA WATA-BARA KASMUKA WATA'ALAA JAD-DUKA WALA ILAHA GHYRUK
Translation: A Glory be to you, O Allah, and all praises are due unto you, and blessed is your name and high is your majesty and none is worthy of worship but you.


Step-4: RECITATION

Whilist remaining standing recite Ta’awwuz and Tasmiyah Silently.

اَعُـوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْـطٰنِ الرَّجِيْـمِ

A ‘UDHU BILLAHI MINASH SHAYTANIR RAJIM
Translation: I take refuge with Allah from the accursed devil.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMILAHIR RAHMANIR RAHEEM
Translation: In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.


Step-5: RECITATION

Recite Surah tul Fatiha now.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَۙ

AL HAMDU LIL LAHI RABBIL ‘ALAMIN
Translation: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the entire Universe.

الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِۙ

ARRAHMANIR RAHIM
Translation: The Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.

مٰلِكِ یَوْمِ الدِّیْنِؕ

MAALIKI YAWMIDDIN
Translation: The Master of the Day of Recompense.

اِیَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَ اِیَّاكَ نَسْتَعِیْنُ

IYYAKA NA’BUDU WA IYYAKA NASTA’IN
Translation: You alone do we worship and You alone do we turn to for help.

اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِیْمَۙ

IHDINAS SIRATAL MUSTAQIM
Translation: Direct us on to the Straight Way.

صِرَاطَ الَّذِیْنَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَیْهِمْ غَیْرِ الْمَغْضُوْبِ عَلَیْهِمْ وَ لَا الضَّآلِّیْنَ۠ آمِيْنَ

SIRATAL LADHINA AN’AMTA’ALAIHIM, GHAIRIL MAGHDUBI’ALAIHIM WA LAD DHALLIN (AMIN)
Translation: The way of those whom You have favoured, who did not incur Your wrath, who are not astray.


Step-6: RECITATION

Now Recite any Surah, or a minimum three short Aayats or one long Aayah. Note: A Surah is read following Surah Fatiah in all units of any sunnah and nafil Salah. It is only required in the first two units of any fard Salah.

قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ اَحَدٌ

QUL HU WAL LAHU AHAD
Translation: Say, He is Allah, the One and Only.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ

ALLAHUS SAMAD
Translation: Allah, the Eternal, Absolute.

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

LAM YALID WA LAM YULAD
Translation: He begetteth not, nor is He begotten.

وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ

WA LAM YA KUL LAHU KUFUWAN AHAD
Translation: And there is none like unto Him.


Step-7: RUKU

In Ruku Women should bend over sufficiently so that the fingers can touch the knees with the fingers kept together. The knees should be bent and the back should not be straight like a man. Also ensuring the elbows touch the side of the body. Women should focus their eyes towards the toes.

اَللّٰهُ اَكْبَرْ

ALLAH O AKBAR
Translation: Allah is the Greatest.


In Ruku, Recite three times:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّىَ الْعَظيْمِ

SUBHANA RABBIYAL ADHIM
Translation: How perfect is my lord, The Supreme!


Step-8: QAUMAH

Qaumah is to stand up from Ruku and return to the Qiyyam position keeping your arms straight by your side. While standing up from Ruku recite "TASMEE".

سَمِـعَ اللهُ لِمَـنْ حَمِـدَه

SAMI ALLAHU-LIMAN HAMIDAH
Translation: Allah hears those who praise Him.


And when stood up recite "TAMHEED".

رَبَّنـا َلَكَ الحَمْـدُ

RABBANA LAKAL HAMD
Translation: Our Lord, praise be to You.


Step-9: SAJJDAH

Sujood (Prostration): Then go into Prostration in order of starting by lowering the knees to the ground. Women may bend their back going into Sajjdah, then the palms of hands, then nose and finally forehead. Focus the eyes towards the nose. Women must ensure that they keep all limbs close together and close to the ground, including the arms, elbows, bottom and feet. Both feet should point out to the right and point the toes towards the Qiblah. While going into the Sajjadah say,

اَللّٰهُ اَكْبَرْ

ALLAH O AKBAR
Translation: Allah is the Greatest.


Recite three times in Sajjdah.

سُبْـحانَ رَبِّـيَ الأَعْلـٰى

SUBHANA RABBIYAL AALA
Translation: How Perfect is my Lord, the Highest.


Step-10: TASHAHHUD

Get up from the floor reciting the "TAKBIR" in order of forehead first, nose, and then hands. Sit upright (Jalsa) and place the palms on the lower thigh but not on the knees. Women should sit resting on the floor with feet pointing out to the right. In Qad’dah set your eyes between the fronts of your hands in your lap. Rest for a moment then say "ALLAH O AKBAR" and prostrate again for a second time reciting "TASBEEH".


Step-11: QUOOD

Get up from second Sajjdah and stand up back to the Qiyaam position. This completes one Rak’aah (unit) of prayer. The second Rak’aah is performed in the same way but do not Recite Thaana and Ta’awwuz, start from Tasmiyah.


Step-12: TASHAHHUD

Get up from the second Sajjdah and stand up back to the Qiyaam position. This completes on Rak’aah (unit) of prayer. The second Rak’aah is performed in the same way but do not recite Sana and Ta’wwuz, start from Tasmiyah. At Tashahhud in the second Rak’aah after second prostration remain seated (Qad’ah) and recite quietly.

التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ

ATTAHIYYAATU LILLAHI WAS SALAWATU WATTAYYIBATU
Translation: All compliments, all physical prayer and all monetary worship are for Allah.

السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

ASSALAMU ALAIKA AYYUHANNABI 'YU 'WARAHMATULLAHI WABARKA'TUHU
Translation: Peace be upon you, Oh Prophet, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

السَّلامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ

ASSALAMU ALAINA WA'ALA'IBADILLAHIS SAA'LIHEEN
Translation: Peace be on us and on all righteous slaves of Allah.


Step-13: TASHAHHUD

Whilist reciting at "Tashahhud" when word "ASH HADU ALLAH ILAAHA" are recited, use the right hand to form a circle with a middle finger and the thumb and raise the index finger high enough for it to face the Qiblah. Drop the finger back down again after reciting "ILLAL-LAHU" (then Allah). If you are performing the Rak’aahs (Maghrib) or four Rak’aahs (Zohr, Asar, Isha), then stand up after Tashahhud.

اَشْـهَدُ اَنْ لَّا اِلٰـهَ اِلاّ اللهُ وَاَشْـهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمّـداً عَبْـدُهٗ وَرَسُـْولُهٗ

ASH'HAD'U'UN LA ILAHAILLALLAHU WA ASH'HADU ANNA MUHAMMADUN ABD'UHU WA RASOOLUH
Translation: I bear witness that no one is worthy of worship except Allah. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.


Step-14: TASHAHHUD

After reciting "Tashahhud", now recite "DUROOD", recite any of these or any other Sunnah.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﴿﴾ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيم ﴿﴾ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

ALLAHUMMA SALLI ALA MUHAMMADIN WA 'ALA AALI MUHAMMAD, KAMA SALLAITA 'ALA IBRAHEEMA WA 'ALA AALI IBRAHEEMA, INNAKA HAMEEDUM MAJEED
Translation: Oh Allah, send grace and honour on Muhammad and On the family and true followers of Muhammad just as you sent Grace and Honour on Ibrahim and on the family and true followers of Ibrahim. Surely, you are praiseworthy, the Great.

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﴿﴾ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيم ﴿﴾ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

ALLAHUMMA BAARIK 'ALA MUHAMMADIN, WA ALA AALI MUHAMMAD, KAMA BARAKTA 'ALA IBRAHIMA WA ALA AALI IBRAHIMA, INNAKA HAMEEDUM MAJEED
Translation: Oh Allah, send your blessing on Muhammad and the true followers of Muhammad, just as you sent blessings on Ibrahim and his true followers. Surely, you are praiseworthy, the Great.


Step-15: DUA

After reciting "DUROOD", now recite any of these or any other Sunnah Duaa’s.

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَآءِ

RABBIJ ALNI MUQEEMAS SALATI WA MIN ZURRIYATI RABBANA WA TAQABBAL DU’A
Translation: My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ

RABBANAGHFIRLI WA LIWALIDAYYA WA LIL MU'MININA YAUMA YAQUMUL HISAB
Translation: Our Lord! Forgive me, And my parents and the believers on the Day of Judgement.


Step-16: SALAAM

Now turn your face to look at your right shoulder whilst saying.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ

AS’SALAMU A’LAIKUM WARAHMATUL’LAH
Translation: May the Peace and Mercy of Allah be upon you.


Now turn your face to at your left shoulder whilst saying,

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ

AS’SALAMU A’LAIKUM WARAHMATUL’LAH
Translation: May the Peace and Mercy of Allah be upon you.


After Salaah, it if of great blessing to make Dua (Asking for your needs) to lift up your Hands to make Dua is loved by Almighty Allah, and is also Sunnah.
